I have coached a lot of people through the weight loss process.

I know losing weight can be tough. Giving up your favorite foods. Feeling irritable when you are hungry. Hating the fact that you need to work out.

But what if I told you there was a way to lose weight that would kill your cravings, eliminate hunger, and not require that you spend hours on a treadmill. Would you do it?

Well there is such a way. It’s called the ketogenic diet. And it’s all the rage right now for a good reason.

The reason the ketogenic diet is so effective is that it addresses everything the body needs to lose weight: low sugar, high fat, no toxins. The three things are what the cells need to heal.

The ketogenic state literally creates a weight loss environment inside your body.

Here are three of the most important things you need to know about the ketogenic diet:


Getting your body into a state of ketosis is like turning on a fat-burning switch.

I have found through the years that some people have “poor metabolic flexibility” where their bodies are not very good at switching back and forth between burning carbs and burning fat for energy.

They go on a diet, lose a little weight, then get stuck. The body won’t lose any more weight, no matter how hard they try.

If this is you, the ONLY way you will ever get your body to unstick its metabolism is through a ketogenic diet. By eating a ketogenic diet, you force your body to burn fat. And because you aren’t switching back and forth between fat-burning and carb-burning, your body stays in fat-burning mode all the time.


It’s hard to stick to a diet when you are hungry! It just makes you mad.

What many people don’t realize is that when you are on a caloric deprivation diet, you are just making yourself MORE hungry.

The keotgenic diet is the ONLY diet I have seen where people’s hunger literally goes away.

Also, remember how I talked about “poor metabolic flexibility” above? Well, if you have poor metabolic flexibility, then eating carbohydrates is almost always going to make you hungry an hour or two after a meal. Once you train your body to be in ketosis, you can go hours without food. In some cases, lots of hours.

And if you’re less hungry when you’re on a diet, you’re more likely to stick to that diet, increasing your chances of losing weight.


This is what I love most about the ketogenic diet. It approaches weight loss from a health perspective.

See, if you are having trouble losing weight, that’s a signal that something is off in the body. A breakdown that could lead to more health problems down the road if it’s not repaired. For some it may be a thyroid that is malfunctioning, for others it’s that their hormones are out of balance.

Since the ketogenic diet gives your cells what they need to function normally, you can lose weight and fix your thyroid problems at the same time, just by changing your diet.

The ketogenic diet has also become incredibly popular in the cancer community because when you put your body in a state of ketosis, you starve out cancer cells.

The only downside to the ketogenic diet is the confusion surrounding how to get into ketosis. While there’s certainly a formula for getting into ketosis and it absolutely takes some experimentation to get your unique protocol figured out, it’s really not all that difficult once you know how.
