Notice that you are gaining weight recently for no apparent reason?

Well, let me introduce you to a key nutrition concept that can change the way you look at your weight for the rest of your life.

Food doesn’t cause you to gain weight, toxins do.

We all have a hormone in us called leptin. This hormone lives in our fat cells and sends signals to the brain to tell it to burn fat for energy. Sounds amazing, right?

Well this hormone was first discovered in the 1990’s. When they first discovered it, researchers thought they had found the cure to weight loss. They quickly created a leptin pill and gave it to obese individuals to see if they would lose weight.

But no one lost weight. How could that be possible?

What they soon figured out was that something that was ubiquitous in our food was blocking the receptor sites of leptin. With a blocked receptor site, the brain had no idea that the fat was even there.

What blocks leptin receptor sites? Toxins.

If you were at my RESET DINNER last week, you know my number one food rule is READ LABELS. When you read a label you will see very quickly if a food is packed with toxins or not.

One toxin you want to avoid, is Monosodium Glutamate (MSG).

MSG is the ultimate flavor enhancer. Most people think of Chinese food when they think of MSG, but unfortunately, this harmful chemical is in many other foods as well.MSG is a neurotoxin. That means it’s toxic to your nervous system, including your brain. This is why side effects of ingesting MSG can be headaches, heart arrhythmias, depression, skin rashes, itching, nausea, vomiting, and even seizures.

It is also linked to obesity. A 2008 study at the University of North Carolina looked at the diets of 752 men and women in China. Eighty percent of them added MSG to their cooking. They found that those who used MSG were three times as likely to be overweight than those who didn’t add the neurotoxin to their meal.

So how do you avoid this toxin? Should you stop eating Chinese food? Well, it’s not that simple. MSG has many hidden names.

The list below (from The Food Babe Way) are some of the common names food companies use to hide MSG:

• Glutamic acid
• Glutamate
• Monopotassium glutamate
• Calcium glutamate
• Magnesium glutamate
• Natrium glutamate
• Anything “hydrolyzed”
• Any “hydrolyzed protein”
• Calcium caseinate
• Sodium caseinate
• Yeast extract
• Yeast food
• Yeast nutrient
• Autolyzed yeast
• Gelatin
• Textured protein
• Whey protein
• Whey protein concentrate
• Whey protein isolate
• Soy protein
• Soy protein isolate
• Soy protein concentrate

How do you avoid this harmful ingredient?

Two recommendations that I have are: read labels and eat nature’s food.

You can never go wrong with FRESH food. You will only find MSG in packaged food.

If you are frustrated with your weight, join me for my HORMONES WORKSHOP Thursday July 21st. I will show you exactly how you can unblock your letpin receptor sites and get your body burning fat again.
