Bioaccumulation. Have you heard of it?
Well, if you haven’t, I want to introduce you to this health concept that could save your life.
Bioaccumulation is happening to you everyday. And more than likely, you have no idea it’s even occurring.
You see, bioaccumulation is a process by which certain toxic substances (such as heavy metals and polychlorinated biphenyls) accumulate – and keep on accumulating! – in your body, posing a threat to your health and your life.
Just this week, The Environmental Working Group, released a study that shows that hundreds of cancer-causing chemicals are building up in the bodies of Americans.
According to the EWG’s research:
“Many of the carcinogens this study documents in people find their way into our bodies through food, air, water and consumer products every day. Dozens of them show up in human umbilical cord blood—which means Americans are exposed to carcinogens before they’ve left the womb,” said EWG President Ken Cook. “We should focus on preventing cancer by preventing human exposure to these chemicals.”
So what are these toxins? Are where exactly are you getting them?
No, this is not a genre of music. This is a serious group of toxins that may be the source of many of your health problems. The main heavy metals that you need to be aware of are:
Depressed? Fatigued? Anxious? Having trouble sleeping? Having trouble losing weight? Dizzy? Ringing in your ears? Chronic digestive issues? Unexplained outbursts of anger? Thyroid problems? Autoimmune condition?
Well guess what? There is a good chance you are walking around with too much mercury in your body. Mercury is the most toxic of all heavy metals. It attaches to (and disrupts communication at) the receptor sites that tell your body to burn fat, produce hormones that make you happy, and allow your thyroid to function normally. Understanding if you have high levels of mercury in your body is key to finally getting a solution to the above problems.
But where are you getting mercury from?
The biggest sources are fish, your amalgam fillings, and flu shots. Most people know that fish can be a very dangerous source of mecury but few are suspicious of their dental care and their supposed-to-be-healthy flu shot, which is packed with mercury. For perspective, the highest mercury count ever found in fish was 210 ppb of mercury. A flu shot contains 51,000 ppb of mercury!
Although we have made great strides in getting lead out of household paint, lead can be passed down to you from your mother and grandmother. In fact research is showing that lead can get passed down through four generations.
What we know about lead is that it is stored in your bones and will leach out into your bloodstream at times of the greatest hormonal change – puberty, pregnancy, and perimenopause.
The number one symptom of lead toxicity is pain. Unexplained chronic pain that won’t go away no matter what therapies you try… that’s lead.
Did you know that almost one hundred percent of our seniors are predicted to die with either Alzheimer’s and dementia over the next decade? And are you aware that there is a new term called pre-dementia which is identified by symptoms of dementia but at a younger and younger age?
Well, one of the toxins that is linked to those diseases is aluminum. Where do you find aluminum? Everywhere! But some of the greatest exposures to aluminum can be found in:
-Foods such as baking powder, self rising flour, salt, baby formula, coffee creamers, baked goods and processed foods, coloring and caking agents
-Drugs, such as antacids, analgesics, anti-diarrheals, and oadditives such as magnesium stearate
-Vaccines—Hepatitis A and B, Hib, DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), pneumococcal vaccine, Gardasil (HPV), and others
-Cosmetics and personal care products such as antiperspirants, deodorants (including salt crystals, made of alum), lotions, sunscreens, and shampoos
-Aluminum products, including foil, cans, juice pouches, tins, and water bottles
Heavy metal accumulation is a serious issue for humans. This is why we are testing for these metals in my office. If you are already a patient of mine, talk with us at your next appointment and we will walk you through which tests you need. If you are not a patient, you can call us to discuss how metals might be contributing to your health problems.
This a HUGE health concern! Please get yourself tested. And please pass this information on to others.
Have a healthy day!
