This episode is all about reclaiming your right to radical health, strength, and vitality with the carnivore diet.
Dr. Paul Saladino is the leading authority on the science and application of the carnivore diet. He has used this diet to reverse autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and mental health issues in hundreds of patients, many of whom had been told their conditions were untreatable.
In this podcast, we cover:
- About the improvements you’ll see on an animal-based diet
- The one thing you need to do in order to lose weight
- Why it’s important to step out of ketosis for women
- How to start at tier one of the carnivore diet
- Understanding the toxicity levels in most fruits and vegetables
- Why you might be experiencing constipation or diarrhea on the carnivore diet
- The reasons you should be eating more organ meat
The two most prominent improvements people will see on an animal-based diet are weight loss and improved autoimmune conditions. Weight loss is happening when you reduce linoleic acid. This acid is found in most plant oils. When ditching it, people will lose weight. If we eat lots of linoleic acids, our body thinks we need to hold onto that weight. Carbohydrates don’t cause diabetes; it’s the linoleic acid. Instead, we need to focus on animal fats – it will tell our bodies to get thin.
If you’re looking to lose weight, there’s only one thing you need to do: cut out the vegetable oils religiously. Also, cut out everything that has vegetable oils in them. Many olive oils and avocados are also cut with vegetable oil – make sure you know that the oils you use are pure. Plus, pigs and chickens are fed the wrong types of things. Instead, ensure you are eating ruminant (beef, bison, and lamb) meat.
There are versions of an animal-based diet that include carbohydrates. For women, low-carb doesn’t work all of the time. Women’s hormones will shift when they go low-carb. However, if women are afraid of cyclic changes with low-carb, there are ways to do animal-based with some carbohydrates. Especially for women, it’s essential to step out of ketosis. Dr. Paul will include honey during the day – it gives him a lot of flexibility for metabolic movement.
When you think of a plant in the ground, it is highly protected. Seeds and nuts will cause a lot of distress in the body. They contain digestive enzyme inhibitors, lectins, and high amounts of phytic acid. Instead, Dr. Paul says it’s okay to eat fruits like avocados, olives, squash, berries, and cucumbers. These are great for tier one of the carnivore diet.
If you’re going to do a carnivore diet of only fat and protein with no carbohydrates, most people will eat lean meat. Eating lean meat is a great way to get constipated. Dr. Paul says you do not need fiber to poop! Actually, fiber does not improve constipation. There is a famous study where a zero fiber diet did the best at resolving constipation. If you believe you need fiber to poop, it’s not supported by medical literature.
Also, many people say the carnivore diet will give them diarrhea. If this is the case, Dr. Paul says to add more fiber through avocado, olives, and squash. Give your small intestines some time to adjust, and your colons will adapt. Plus, Dr. Paul says it’s time to think about eating more organ meat in order to get enough riboflavin, an essential B vitamin. Eating nose to tail is ethically the right thing to do. Preferably, get fresh organs. If you are not able to get them, Dr. Paul sells Heart & Soil Supplements.
Stay tuned as Dr. Paul speaks about being metabolic unwell during COVID and why eating meat is an ethical way of life.
Dr. Paul’s message for the world is to eat like your ancestors not like your doctor.

The knowledge that Dr. Saladino has leaves me speechless. I am very new to the carnivore diet. I am a Type 2 diabetic and my bloodwork showed a reading of 151 and my doctor wanted me to start taking Metformin. At the time, I weighed 165 and I am 5’4″. I did not want to take medication, so I started fasting; which I have never done in 62 years. I increased my fasting up to every 16 hours and stayed at that over the next 42 days and then I had bloodwork done and the blood glucose reading was 138 and I weighed 154.8 lbs. My daughter and son n’ law heard about the carnivore diet and asked if I wanted to do it with them. I have been on the carnivore diet for the last 34 days. I only drink water and I eat meat with fat, eggs, and certain types of cheese. I fast for 24 hours daily. My most recent weight is now 144 lbs and my blood glucose is averaging around 110. So, I am proof you lose weight and it helps your blood glucose to go down! Dr. Pelz, I just came across a YouTube video of you yesterday and it is amazing what you have accomplished and that you are sharing your knowledge with everyone. It is very much appreciated!
This is mind-boggling. I’m glad I didn’t order all the polyphenol stuff yet that I had in mind, though I just got the autophotea ingredients and drank my first cup this AM. Regardless, I ordered his book and I’m looking at his supplements. I actually enjoy beef liver sometimes, but COOKED. But I live in a very rural area so limited in what I can purchase easily. This is going to take time to process. I won’t, however, be able to look at or do anything the same now…except IF.
He talks so fast. Imagine how fast his brain works.
