This is a really common question that I get.
Once you understand that toxins build up in your body, you start to see that your kids need to detox too.
But how do you detox a child? What age would you start? Is it safe? Is it necessary?
These are all great questions to ask yourself, before you embark on detoxing your child.
Let’s start with the WHY.
Why would you want to detox a child?
My simple answer to that is that chemical load that our children are exposed to is greater than any generation has ever seen.
Not only are there more harmful chemicals in our environment, organizations like the Environmental Working Group are testing babies in the womb and finding that over 200 harmful chemicals are already present in their bodies before they are even born!
Symptoms like learning disabilities, food allergies, ADD, and autism all have links to toxins.
In my office alone, I am seeing illness in children like never before. Chronic migraines, anxiety, suppressed immune systems, and severe digestive problems have now become common childhood conditions.
These kind of severe problems we did not see years ago.
Think about it. Did anyone have a peanut allergy in your elementary school?
So what can you do if you want to detox your child?

Until then, here are some key points to think about.
1.Remove the source
The most important part of detoxing is to stop putting toxin in in the first place. Great place to start is with food. Eat as much organic non-gmo foods as possible. Minimize sugar. And avoid processed foods at all costs.
2.Repair the gut
You will do more harm than good if you start detoxing without repairing the gut. If your child has a leaky gut and you start encouraging the liver to push more toxins out, you will do more damage than good.

3.Boost Glutathione levels
There is an amazing antioxidant that destroys toxins like no other antioxidant. It’s called Glutathione. The cool thing about glutathione is that it is produced within your cells. Ways you can increase your glutathione levels is by adding in nutrients like:
- milk thistle
- N-acetyl cistine (NAC)
- Alpha Lipoice Acid
- sulfur rich foods like: eggs, broccoli, Brussel sprouts
- Vit C rich foods like: oranges, red pepper, kale, strawberries, grapefruit, kiwi
- Vit E rich foods like: sweet potatoes, avocados, almonds, butternut squash
- Selenium rich foods like: grass fed beef, chicken, eggs, spinach, & brazil nuts
- organic grass fed whey protein
4.Add in Binders
This is one of the most crucial steps. Once you have repaired the gut and increased glutathione levels, you need something to bind to the toxins that get released.
Binders like activated charcoal and organic zeolites work great.
