Turn off your PAIN SWITCH

Too many people live in chronic pain.

Pain killers are the number one prescribed medication in our country. Opioids, a high powered pill killer with a morphine like effect, have become so abused that even the President Obama is asking doctors to limit their prescription of this highly addictive drug.

But when you are in chronic pain, it effects everything in your life. It’s hard to do your job, be a good parent, have a successful relationship with your spouse. Chronic pain can quickly destroy the quality of your life.

So what can you do? How can you naturally lower the chronic pain you may be experiencing?

After working with tens of thousands of patients for the past 20 years, I have discovered that there is a pain switch that gets turned on. It usually gets turned on by several breakdowns in your body.

If you want to get out of chronic pain, the first step is to identify why this switch has turned on in the first place.

Here are the top culprits that will turn on your pain switch:

1. A Damaged Spine

Bottomline: pinched nerves hurt

Your spine has one main job to do, protect your nervous system. When you look at your spine from the side, it is suppose to have curves. And when you look at your spine form the front it is suppose to be lined up. If your spine moves out of this normal alignment, it will begin to irritate the nerves. If these nerves get irritated enough, they will start sending pain signals to your brain.

Solution: get an x-ray by a corrective chiropractor

X-rays are incredibly important to see if a bone out of alignment is the source of your pain. Corrective chiropractors are the only doctor that are trained to look for these pinched nerves. Your MD will look for disease of the bone. Your chiropractor will look for pinched nerves.

2. A Leaky Gut

Too many people are walking around with a leaky gut and don’t even know it. Leaky gut syndrome (LGS) happens when you have been exposed to GMO foods, wheat, dairy, alcohol, antibiotics, chronic stress, and heavy metals.

LGS is a condition where a food or toxins create micro holes in your gut. These micro holes then allow undigested food and toxins to get into your bloodstream. Once in your bloodstream, the brain will register it as a foreign invader and start causing an inflammatory response in order to try and get rid of that invader.

I see this all the time in my office, where a person will not get out of pain until they fix their leaky gut. The best way to fix leaky gut is to remove all the stressors I mentioned above. Then you need to repair the holes that were created.

Solution: collagen, probiotics, and enzymes

3. Elevated Lead Levels

Bottomline: heavy metals at any level will destroy your health

Heavy metals can be that hidden thing that is stopping you from being healthy.

Heavy metals block receptor sites of your cells throwing your hormones off and can damage the outer membrane of your cells leading to a chronic inflammatory situation.

Lead is a key metal that many people are exposed to. Lead can be passed down through your mother and grandmother. Lead is in our water. Lead is in paint in old homes. Lead will stay stored in your bones and at times of hormonal changes it will be released from the bone, into the bloodstream.

For women, if you started experiencing pain around  the time of hormonal change (puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause) there is a good chance elevated levels of lead may be contributing to your pain.

Solution: get tested

There is only one accurate way to test your lead levels; a 6 hour provoked urine test.
