Our bodies are self healing, self repairing organisms.
When we sprain an ankle, the body rushes in with inflammatory cells to repair the injured ligaments.
When we have an infection, the immune system turns on and sends an army of T-helper, CD4 cells, and white blood cells to kill any viruses or bacteria that it can find.
Our bodies are powerful. More powerful than we have been taught.
If the body can do such an amazing repair job, why would we need to put anything from the outside to help it?
This is a question that has haunted me for the past several years.
In chiropractic, we strongly believe that the body heals itself. The chiropractic adjustment takes pressure off the nervous system so that the brain and body can communicate better. Nothing goes into the body to heal it, we are just removing any interferences that would be blocking that healing. It’s powerful and works like a charm to put the body in an accelerated healing state.
But what about supplements?
What is the purpose of a supplement?
Can you heal without supplements?
These are questions I have asked myself over and over again. And the conclusion that I have come up with is that, there are 3 conditions that determine your need for supplements.1. Your toxic load
You’ve heard me say this before... We live in the most toxic time in human history.
The self repairing mechanisms that your body has are struggling. Toxins have ruined the microbiome of your gut which controls your immunity. Your liver is working overtime to handle the increased influx of toxins. And because of situations like a leaky gut, your brain is receiving large amounts of toxins damaging its ability to function normally.
This is a major problem, that requires massive attention.
Everyone’s body is reacting to this toxic situation differently. Understanding the limitations YOUR body is experiencing is critical to getting well.
This is where supplements can help tremendously. To repair the damage toxins have done. But I strongly feel once you have repaired those breakdowns, very few supplements are needed to keep you healthy.2. Your healthstyle
Once you have repaired your body, your need for supplements is directly proportional to your HEALTHSTYLE.
What the heck is your healthstyle? It’s the health habits that you have created that are now apart of your everyday life. If you have a great healthstyle. Your need for supplements will be less.
Eating well, minimizing toxins, keep stress low, exercising, positive mindset, chiropractic adjustments…these are all habits that a person with a great healthstyle incorporates into their weekly routine.3. Your ability to get into Nutritional Ketosis
The more I study ketosis.
The more I coach people into ketosis.
The more convinced I am that ketosis is the most powerful state your body can be in.
Ketones are the byproduct of your body burning fat.
But it is so much more than a weight loss tool. Ketosis is a way to put your body into a MASSIVE repair state.
Ketones repair the mitochondria of your cells. The mitochondria is the battery of your cells. Without proper mitochondrial function, your cells die. In fact, the mitochondria are so important to your health many researchers feel that fixing the mitochondria is the key to preventing cancer.
